A different kind of job: More than a job, working at The New Teacher Project is a commitment—a commitment to overcome incredible challenges and achieve incredible results. Every job is essential, and every employee’s contributions and ideas are integral to our success. It’s exciting. It’s hard work. It’s not for everyone. But we’re not looking for everyone; we’re looking for a different kind of applicant: You.

A Different Kind of Purpose
At The New Teacher Project, we believe that educational inequality is the great social injustice of our time. In recognition of the growing body of research showing that teachers matter most when it comes to raising student achievement, everything we do is oriented toward ensuring that all public schools—no matter where they are or who they enroll—are staffed with high-quality teachers. It is our conviction that, one day, our nation’s public schools will be thriving organizations that offer all students an excellent education.

A Different Kind of Approach
Improving teacher quality in America’s public schools is a complex problem that demands multi-pronged solutions. That’s why The New Teacher Project takes on this challenge from so many angles. Today, we are not only recruiting and training outstanding career changers and recent graduates to become teachers, but also exploring new methods of teacher certification, working directly with low-performing schools to improve teacher hiring, and changing the policies that keep schools from finding and keeping the best teachers.

A Different Kind of Impact
At The New Teacher Project, your work will affect the futures of millions of disadvantaged children. On any given day, TNTP employees are finding great teachers for low-income students, innovating new methods of teacher preparation, and gathering hard data on the effects of long-ignored policies on students, teachers and schools. Since 1997, the more than 37,000 teachers hired and trained by TNTP staff have touched the lives of an estimated 5.9 million students, while TNTP’s research has triggered a wave of reform. You can help transform education in America.

A Different Kind of Colleague
The New Teacher Project chooses its staff members as carefully as it selects its teachers. The result: a close-knit group of incredibly talented employees who are passionate about education and their jobs. And with The New Teacher Project’s commitment to diversity, you’ll have an opportunity to work with colleagues who bring different backgrounds and a common sense of purpose to shaping our programs.

A Different Kind of Workplace
Most of The New Teacher Project’s employees work in school district buildings or telecommute from home offices. Today our staff spans 24 states and more than 60 cities. The result: An extraordinary variety of possible workplaces, and extraordinary flexibility for our staff.

A Different Kind of Opportunity
The New Teacher Project is growing fast. Today, TNTP has a staff of over 250, and expects to add more than 50 positions by 2012. Since TNTP fills 40 percent of its positions internally, you can help shape TNTP’s future while building your own career. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to engage with a wide range of leaders, advocates and scholars in the education, government, philanthropic and business communities.
